Privacy Policy
Pelza is a private AI expense tracker for recording expenses by text, voice, receipt photos, bills, and handwritten notes. This policy explains what data we process, where it is stored, when third-party services are used, and how deletion works.
Your records stay on your device by default. When you use AI recognition or cloud features, selected content and related metadata may be processed by Pelza and relevant third-party service providers.
Pelza does not ask for bank credentials and does not connect to bank accounts.
You can record expenses on your device. Cloud backup is optional and tied to your Pelza account.
Information we collect or process
- Account information, such as email address, Pelza user ID, Apple account identifier or private relay email, nickname, language, country/region, and default currency.
- Expense records you create or save, including amount, currency, merchant, category, date, notes, and related source metadata.
- User content you submit for recognition, such as receipt photos, bill images, screenshots, handwritten bill content, typed text, and voice transcript or audio chunks when using voice recognition.
- Subscription and purchase status from Apple, including product ID, subscription status, renewal state, and transaction identifiers needed to unlock Pro.
- Technical data required to operate the service, such as authentication sessions, parse job status, quota usage, error categories, and security logs. We do not use advertising tracking identifiers.
Where data is stored
Pelza stores local ledger records, cached preferences, source image URI mappings, and local app data on your device. If you sign in or use cloud features, selected account, transaction, subscription, and parsing records are stored on Pelza's backend. Original receipt image bytes are not kept as permanent backend records; submitted images are processed for recognition and only related metadata, redacted extracted details, and saved transaction data are retained.
How we use data
- To sign you in with Apple or email verification codes.
- To convert text, voice, receipt photos, bill images, and handwritten notes into expense drafts.
- To let you review, edit, save, back up, restore, export, and understand expense records.
- To manage Pro subscription status, quota, cloud backup, export, and restore purchase.
- To protect account security, monitor service health, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
AI processing and third-party services
When you ask Pelza to recognize a receipt, bill, handwritten note, text entry, or voice input, relevant content may be sent to service providers that help operate the requested feature. Depending on the configured production service, providers may include Amazon Web Services Lightsail for cloud hosting; Resend for transactional email delivery such as sign-in verification codes and account notices; Apple for Sign in with Apple and in-app purchases; Gemini / Google AI and DeepSeek for AI parsing; Doubao / Volcengine for speech recognition; Tencent OCR only if OCR fallback is enabled; and Frankfurter or another configured exchange-rate provider for currency conversion. We share only what is needed for the feature you request.
Model training and advertising
Pelza does not use your personal expense content to train Pelza-owned AI models. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your records for advertising tracking. Content submitted to AI, OCR, or speech providers is sent to perform the recognition or parsing you requested.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, delete the app, or use Delete local data. Cloud account data remains while your account is active. In-app account deletion removes cloud account data managed by Pelza, including sessions, identity mappings, preferences, subscription snapshots, parsing records, cloud transactions, and transaction sources. Apple subscriptions, cancellation, and refunds remain managed by Apple.
Children
Pelza is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
